Beginning Your Muslim Journey: A Step-by-Step Course

About Course

This course is designed for new Muslims or those interested in embracing Islam. It covers the foundational beliefs, practices, and spiritual growth necessary to begin and strengthen one’s journey as a Muslim.

Course Duration: 4 Weeks

Format: Online

1. Core Beliefs & Declaration of Faith (Week 1)
✅ Understanding Islam – The meaning of Islam, its core message, and the concept of Tawheed (Oneness of God).
✅ The Shahadah – How to properly declare faith in Islam, its meaning, and its significance.
✅ Who is Allah? – Learning about Allah’s names, attributes, and His relationship with creation.
✅ Introduction to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) – His life, mission, and why Muslims follow him.
🔹 Outcome: Students will be able to confidently recite the Shahadah (if they choose to embrace Islam) and understand the foundational beliefs of Islam.
2. Essential Worship & Daily Practice (Week 2)
✅ The Five Pillars of Islam – Shahadah, Salah (prayer), Zakat (charity), Sawm (fasting), Hajj (pilgrimage).
✅ How to Perform Wudu (Ablution) – Step-by-step purification before prayer.
✅ Introduction to Salah (Prayer) – The importance of prayer, how to perform it, and short Surahs to memorize.
🔹 Outcome: Students will know how to perform Wudu, pray at least one Salah (initially), and understand the importance of each pillar.
3. Strengthening Faith & Islamic Lifestyle (Week 3)
✅ Reading the Quran – How to approach it, key themes, and starting with short Surahs.
✅ Hadith & Sunnah – The role of the Prophet’s teachings in daily life.
✅ Islamic Morals & Manners – Truthfulness, kindness, patience, and dealing with family/friends.
✅ Repentance (Tawbah) – How to seek forgiveness and avoid major sins.
🔹 Outcome: Students will begin reading the Quran, apply Hadith in daily life, and develop good Islamic character.
4. Joining the Muslim Community & Next Steps (Week 4)
✅ Finding a Supportive Muslim Community – Mosques, study circles, and online groups.
✅ Continuing Education – Recommended books, scholars, and resources.
✅ Overcoming Challenges – Dealing with family, staying consistent, and avoiding doubts.
✅ Setting Spiritual Goals – Daily dhikr (remembrance of Allah), increasing knowledge, and worship.
🔹 Outcome: Students will feel connected to the Muslim community, have a plan for growth, and know how to handle challenges.
